Abstract

O documentário A Batalha de Adwa, realizado pelo cineasta Haile Gerima, permite o acesso a um fato da história etíope até então pouco conhecido pelo público brasileiro. Através de seu documentário, o cineasta etíope faz uma releitura desse fato histórico, propondo-se a retraçar seus aspectos marcantes e a entendê-los por meio de análise de fontes inovadoras, como entrevistas, canções e material iconográfico. Como qualquer obra fílmica, essa é repleta de representações e subjetividades que constituem os elementos necessários para a reconstituição de uma voz etíope sobre a história da batalha.

Marina Annie Berthet, Universidade Federal Fluminense

Marina Berthet é professora do depto de história da Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) e Professora colaboradora da pós graduação em História. Membro do Laboratório de Antropologia visual e Documentário. Trabalha com temáticas diversas ligadas à História da África. O cinema de África se tornou uma área de interesse desde de 2010.

Carlos Reyna, UFJF

Carlos Reyna é professor do depto de artes da Universidade de Juiz de Fora (UFJF). Professor do Programa de Pós-graduação em Ciências Sociais (PPGCSO) e do Instituto de Artes e Design (IAD). É coordenador do Laboratório de Antropologia Visual e Documentário (LAVIDOC). Trabalha na área de Cinema e Antropologia, com ênfase em Antropologia Visual, Antropologia do Cinema, Documentário e Análise Fílmica.
