In this conversation with Orlando Senna, the filmmaker describes some of the key moments of his career, which began in Bahia in the early 1960s, and continued with his involvement directly in the emergence of Cinema Novo, up until the present day. Among his experiences as a filmmaker, he highlights his contribution to the film industry in both Brazil and Latin America, as he recounts his experience as a journalist and how this was also responsible for connecting him to some of the most important events in the history of Chile and Cuba. Among these events, he highlights his participation in the creation of the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión (EICTV), of San Antonio de Los Baños (Cuba) and his relationship with the Cuban filmmaker, Santiago Álvarez.
